gallbladder issues?
any one else have issues with their gallbladder? i have never had a problem until now and due to me being a high risk pregnancy my dr has advised me to do whatever possible to not have gallbladder surgery until after the baby. so my diet now consists of mostly fresh fruits and veggies, little dairy, some whole grains, and NO:nuts, fried foods, processed food, refined sugar, red meat, pork, eggs, etc. which normally doesnt sound too hard to me... except NOW when im pregnant... eggs, nuts, and chick-fil-a french fries are totally ALL i am craving!!! please tell me im not alone!

Re: gallbladder issues?
I am not having gallbladder issues but you listed what consists of my diet except for the dairy--I do not do dairy.
I am sorry you are going through this. If you need help with meal ideas or something yummy to eat I am sure plenty of mammas here can help. You will find yummy things that can curb your cravings it will just take some creativity. gl

Re: gallbladder issues?
I had a severly infected gallbladder and had to have mine removed at 9 weeks. I hate to hear you are suffering, and hope you can stick to the new diet. I know its gotta be hard at times.

Hugs!
I'm not going through that now, but had TERRIBLE GB issues in college & before my wedding. Do you know that your GB can be irritated by stress? At least 60% of my issues were stress related! (not dietary) Good luck & I hope it calms down for you!

Re: gallbladder issues?
Lauren asked me to give my
since I experienced this, so here goes:I had issues while pregnant but my dr. kept brushing me off telling me the pain was the baby's head!? Yeah ok... he was a quack. Anyway.. for me it came and went, and never mattered what I ate. I would say once a month sometimes twice, I would have an attack for a day. It was miserable, I won't lie! I found sometimes a warm bath would help. Once in a while I would put ice there as well which helped. I found that out on accident when I set a bowl of ice cream on top of my big belly to hold it! I hope that with diet you'll be able to manage it. For me it varied. I never could find a pattern in what I ate that went along w/ the pain so my doctor refused to even check since there was nothing supposedly causing it (foods) I had mine removed 2 months after my dd was born and I had a gallstone the size of a golf ball... babies head eh?! Anyway, I think you are on the right track with diet modifications. you may want to test out some of the foods and see if they do bother.. for me I was told never eat greasy.. they never did bother me. For me it was strange things, so I never connected the two. Now after its been removed, some things do bother (not pain, just bathroom issues) like chinese, milk(not other diary products, just milk itself), sometimes even lettuce. I haven't modified my diet, I just know that if I eat some of those, to expect a trip to the bathroom within an hour or so . If it does get really bad, to the point that you cant breathe, and can't eat anything without an attack, it may be more beneficial to have it out. ( I don't know why you are HR tho, so that would depend) for me, my daughter wasn't really getting everything she needed because I couldn't properly digest anything. Sorry for tmi- but one time I had a REALLY bad attack that caused me to vomit and I actually threw up supper I'd eaten 3 nights prior so that goes to show how horribly my digestion was without the bile and things I needed! Be sure that you have it checked regularly (ultrasound usually) in case you do have any bad stones. If they are blocking the duct (like mine was) then it can be more serious, and cause issues with the pancreas. For now, I pray you are able to manage w/ diet and then have it taken care of after deliver! Good luck to you, and feel free to pm me if you have any questions!!!

Re: gallbladder issues?
I had gallbladder issues but have gotten it under control. Dietary changes can make a huge difference. Stick with it! My big triggers are fried foods, esp french fries. Foods that are nice to your gallbladder are apples and lemon juice (I've heard apple cider vinegar but haven't used it). I like to sit with a knife and peel an apple, then cut little peices off and eat them slowly, and think nice thoughts toward my gallbladder (sounds silly, but hey, gallbladder pain makes a person desperate!). The other thing I do is first thing in the morning, I squeeze half a lemon into a cup, put a bit of water in it, the shoot it (drink it like a shot of whiskey), then wait about an hour before eating anything else (easy because after that I'm not hungry). There is a pressure point my chiro/holistic practioner has me rub when I start to have problems, and that seems to help a lot, I definitely reccommend seeking alternative treatment if that is an option... better than having surgery!
I've been given the option of just having it removed, but I'll keep it unless it gets infected or it gets to a point that it isn't easily controlled. I hope your gallbladder behaves for you and you an avoid surgery! I know how painful and scary a gallbladder attack can be.

Re: gallbladder issues?
When I read your post, Steph was the first mama to come to mind. I remember her talking about it last DDC. I hope you can find some relief and hopefully it can stay undercontrol until after the baby is born

Re: gallbladder issues?
Due date crashing, couldn't read and not post. I was diagnosed with gall stones.... about 3 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter. My triggers are nuts and artificial sweetners, some pizzas, and some chinese. It is easier to have attacks when pregnant than when not. It can be mostly controlled by diet, and when I do have an attack if I don't force exit the food it lasts for about 3 days. Thinking back I've probably had stones for about 10 years, I chalked it up to odd allergies. I still have my gall bladder and have had 3 kiddos in that time period.
I know it is harder to control while pregnant, but it is possible, everyone's triggers are different. You might be able to get away with a small waffle fry etc. |
