Serum HCG question (betas)

If your betas went from 280 (4wk 1d) to 2000 in 4 days (at 4wk 5d), would you be thinking it might be twins??

Re: Serum HCG question (betas)

Not necessarily. My HCG had a doubling rate of more than 52+ hours (low HCG results) the first two weeks of testing (up to week 6) when I was PG with my twins.

I have heard they can double faster or be higher in general with twins... so maybe

It just wasn't my experience. FWIW, my twins turn 3 this upcoming April 1st

Re: Serum HCG question (betas)

I personally don't think they mean much. I knew when I ovulated (charting and OPKs), and my beta at 15 dpo was 731. The repeat draw 48 hours later (17 dpo) was 2070. My OB did suspect twins, but it was just a singleton! From what I remember reading, the range of betas is HUGE. The progesterone level might be a better indicator of twins or not (having a really high progesterone could signal that 2 eggs were released), although even this is not reliable. The only way to know for sure is via early ultrasound!

Nope, that falls in the normal range for single pregnancy.

Re: Serum HCG question (betas)

My betas were always really high...probably why I always have BAD morning/all day sickness

No, I'd just be really excited to have such great numbers. Congrats!
