Use it! My name is Kerri and I have a boy cousin named Terry, it was never a big deal... except we would both say "yes???" when the other one was called. Especially if SIL sincerely means that she doesn't mind!!!!

wow 34 to 1.. only 1 thinks it's too close (And I swear I didn't vote!) yeah, I think SIL really means it that she doesn't mind. She is currently pregnant, but expecting a girl. She told me they were thinking about Braiden, but my DS is Brandon. She was thinking those might be too close for me. I don't think they are that close and it wouldn't bother me. Doesn't matter since she's having a girl, though

decisions decisions!

Use it! I have a Mackenzie, we call her Ken. My sister named her DD Kennedy, and we call her Ken too. It's not as confusing as you'd think it would be. My sister and I were both cool with name sharing too. I wouldn't mind at all if my relatives or friends wanted to use "our names". I would take it as a HUGE compliment!

I would consider the names too similar for too close of relatives with them being first cousins, especially if they will spend a lot of time together and in the same places (which I would guess they will....). It sounds like it would work in your specific family, though, especially because your sister-in-law doesn't have a problem with it.

So that was my very unhelpful two cents.

we pretty much only spend holidays and birthdays together. We live an hour or so apart and they only come up for those special reasons. We do celebrate a lot of birthdays, though. It's tradition for everyone to gather for dinner at the grandparents and then have cake/ice cream/and presents after.

I think it's ok. My daughter's name is Louisa and she is called Lulu. Then my BIL had a daughter and they named her Lucy. They both have the same last name, and for me at the time it was too similar for my liking, not that I said anything to them. It is still a little confusing for the grandparents, they often call them the wrong names, and even my 3yo picked up on it... she said to me... Lucy, that 'rhymes' with Lulu... she rhymes with me! (Which I think she was excited about, haha). But now I feel indifferent about it really.

Re: Naming baby a similar name as cousin.. thoughts?

I grew up with a stepdad named Kevin and a brother named Evan in the same house, and it was fine, totally not a big deal. For cousins, even more fine.

I would go for it! If you love the name then that is all that matters.

Re: Naming baby a similar name as cousin.. thoughts?

I wouldn't care as long as it wasn't the same exact name. My SIL didn't name her DS Aiden because BIL's cousin has a kid named Brayden. I thought that was a dumb reason to shy away from the name she loved.

No problem at all IMO! If you like it, use it!
