Foot washing during a wedding ceremony?

I recently saw a gorgeous wedding video in which the couple washed each other's feet during the ceremony. I thought it was probably something religious, but I googled it and it's not inherently religious. It symbolizes having a clean slate with which to walk forward together in life, the two of you as a new family, which I like. Has anyone ever seen it in a wedding? I don't know how common it is and according to yahoo answers, a lot of people think it's weird

During the wedding, no. Beforehand in Scottish culture, yes.

I had and friend who was born and raised in India. His family is still all there. He returned there to get married and they did that during their wedding.

Here is the video, for reference. I follow the mama's blog and she posted it there, so I'm guessing she wouldn't mind a reader sharing her beautiful day

Hmmm that different but its kind of neat what it symbolizes. I havent ever seen it done but then again I have only been to one or two weddings when I was little.

I think it sounds pretty cool. I actually did a photo series about cleansing several years ago that involved foot cleansing.

I've had good friends do it for theirs. While it is in scripture, it was common practice before the dawn of Christianity, Jesus used it to convey servant hood and putting His "bride" first
It's such a beautiful sentiment I think, I wish we would have done it for our wedding.

I've seen a set of wedding photos and only the BRIDE washed the man's feet. This rubbed me the wrong way. I think it would be kind of neat if they BOTH do it.

This is sort of what I have heard about it. I had a friend who, when her boyfriend proposed, after she said yes, he washed her feet. She gave the explanation above. I thought it was really sweet.
