Fabric softener- really?

I was reading on another thread- either about Softbums or Thirsties hemp duos, can't remember- and a couple of mamas where saying they use Ecover fabric softener on them. Every diaper says "no fabric softener", so I'm wondering if this is a good idea or bad idea. Kinda want to try it but I'm afraid I'll ruin things. Any of you use fabric softener?

ecover is a plant based fabric softener that rinses completely away does not build up and is completely diaper safe. it doesnt have any phosphates or petroleum base to it so it does not cause repelling isssues like regular softener does. It makes your dipes baby soft and it smells like HEAVEN!

Ecover is okay for cloth, and makes them so soft

I really want to get some if it really works. Does it help the line dried dipes be less crunchy and stiff?

Does it matter what kind of dipes you are washing??? (pockets/AIO vs. Fitteds/prefolds), cause I wash mine all together and I'd love to use ecover on every load!!!!

Sadly no. Line drying makes them stiff and rough even if you use ecover. I would throw them in the dryer for a couple minutes to fluff them up.

I use Ecover and bright green, never had a problem with either!
I think of my diapers like towles, they need softner and will still absorb! That being said I use prefolds and fitteds, with lots and lots of wool!

I always washed my fitteds and pockets separate. I have heard that using ecover or any softener can cause build up on diapers made out of synthetic materials (pockets, aio's). But I have read of mamas using it on their pockets and aios and no build up issues. I only used ecover on my fitteds and prefolds.
