I would love to know where to find a pattern...I would be more than happy to purchase it..I imagine I could figure out how to do it, but that might take more brain power than I have at the moment.

I just made it up as I knit it. I'm thinking I'll write a pattern and post it for free. It's so simple that I would feel wrong asking for money for it! PM me and I'll help you out.

Thanks I will when I'm ready to cast on. I've been doing shorties these last two weeks, but today and the next several are expected to be cold so it's still longie season here.

Re: Convertible longies

As far as I know, you kind of have to wing it. There's no pattern that I know of out there that incorporates things like this for boys.

Simply put, you would make board shorts (around ~1" below the knee) and make sure that you could button or lace/tie the "leg warmer" extension to the shorts. Then the legwarmer is just that - knit in the round till the desired length is met.
