Altering nb schedule?

My husband seems to think we can alter our newborns feeding and sleeping schedule, but I'm thinking she is the boss. I don't think it's possible. She feeds for hours sometimes with only a few ten minute breaks. I don't want to seem ungrateful but I often end up in tears at these times because I feel like a prisoner. I love my DD but I need to get things done around the house, as well as work on my art. Feeling very unbalanced but so blessed to have a happy, healthy, sweet daughter.

I'm sorry you're having a hard time - believe me, I've been there. My DD would eat and eat and eat non-stop. Just remember, newborns have their own schedule, and you have to deal with it.
Before you know it, she will be evening out... and you'll wonder where all the time went!

How old is your babe?

If she's under 6 weeks old, forget about trying to alter her eating and sleeping schedule. You'll drive yourself batty.

She will get into more of a routine that doesn't include hours of eating. I promise! Try to just soak in those moments of snuggling with her.

Re: Altering nb schedule?

We alter our babies' feeding and sleeping schedules here from birth really, as do all our friends. It can happen and does for lots of babies. We have babies who eat and sleep fairly predicatably pretty much after a few days. PM me if you want to talk. GL mama!
