Microfiber next to skin?

I was under the impression that microfiber does not need to be next to baby's skin??

I was looking at target.com for diapers and came across TrendLab diapers...they look decent, but they have a microfiber insert that would be next to the skin.

Am I wrong? TIA

Re: Microfiber next to skin?

wow, it does look like it's MF against the skin, I certainly hope the pictures are misleading! If that's the case there are going to be a lot of rashy babies! MF can't go against the skin at all as it wicks too much moisture away and will crack the skin. Yikes!

Oh no! I accidentally put microfiber against my dd's skin once, a few years ago when I didn't know, and that was the only time she had a nasty rash with one open sore that she still has a faint scar from it on her bum (She's 3 1/2 now and long potty trained).

Re: Microfiber next to skin?

I went to their website to see what they say from the manufacturer (in case Target somehow had the description wrong) and it says on the site that the insert is microfiber and you can see from the upclose picture it is.

I feel sorry for anyone that orders them then. I guess they (the maker) didn't do their research??

Re: Microfiber next to skin?

I used mf once against my DD's skin when she was a newbie because I didn't know any better but it was once for like an hour and it didn't do anything. I hope we are wrong about these diapers.

ETA: It's definitely microfiber. If you zoom in to the fabric on this soaker you can see that it is.

Wow. Yes, microfiber is not supposed to touch the skin. DH put it against my oldest DD's skin one time and she got a sore!

Green line diapers call their inserts bamboo microfiber and they seem to be okay, maybe it is mixed with something that makes it better? I haven't tried either so I really can't tell you though.

It is topped with fleece, so that is okay.

Its so cool that Target is starting to sell more things like that, but too bad about the microfiber. That would/could definitely turn someone off cloth diapering.
