Do any of you have PPD and take meds WHILE bfing? If I go in I'd like to know if or what I could take.

Yes, I take Prozac while I am bfing... I was diagnosed when DD was bout 4-5 months old.

I can't say that it is PPD (probably just my job & genetics), but I take lexapro. I took it through my pregnancy and through BF ( 11 mths now.)

I was on cymbalta, but wasnt bf'ing so that doesnt help you much anyway LOL

Make sure you get plenty of Omega's! Pregnancy and bfing use these up and you should keep them replenished. Omegas have lots to do with mental health, among other things.

I don't know about the safety while bfing but I've heard taking a vit d supplement can help with keeping you happy.

I've been taking zoloft (now available generic

) for depression/pmdd and it really helps. I took it while bfing and pregnancy.

im thinking about going to see about me too. my midwife thinks i may have ppd, but i know its also birth related. and winter related! and sleep deprivation!

there are not many meds you can't have while bfing. you can check kellymom, or jack newman (pretty sure) has a new one out about meds and bfing. my lll group library has a copy, and our meeting is april 2, so if you want me to check in there, i am happy to. lmk.
