"value" prefold fittted?

Do you think there is any interest in a value prefold fitted? I am cheap and microfiber doesn't work for us... and I know a lot of people are intimidated my prefolds.

So far it is just an idea and I have not made any yet so I would have lots of testing to do. I am just getting annoyed at not having the normal diaper making supplies local and shipping driving my prices way up.

I even thought of making them with colorful snaps and rise snaps. I also want to sell wool wraps with them.

Good idea/bad idea?

Wool wraps sound great! they are hard to find. What price are you thinking for the prefold fitted? When I was strapped for cash and bewildered by all the CD-ing options before my DD, I would have loved some GMD prefold fitteds but couldn't bring myself to spend $8 a pop for them.

Well a prefold is 2 dollars so it would have to be atleast 6 since they are kindof a pain to make. Then there's shipping. 8$ isnt that bad when other fitteds are 20.

The w ool wraps I make are recycled materials and they are one-size. I am still tinkering with the pattern.

I definately like the one size idea with snaps on the front. I think it would be a good idea to make the snaps different colors so that it's easier for parents to know that the red snaps are the nb setting, the blue snaps are the small setting, the orange snaps are the...... etc etc.

make sure you sit down and figure your costs mama. fabric cost, shipping it to you, snap prices, then your hourly wage, and shipping materials to send them out again

there is a lot involved!

Re: "value" prefold fittted?

Yeah I can get the prefolds for $2 each with free shipping to me. I guess I usually just add a few dollars to the cost of materials for my prices I never thought of hourly wage. Maybe I should figure that out.

What about instead of rise snaps having a fold+snap down rise?

How attached is everyone to the idea of closures? What if it was only snappiable? I <3 my snappis but i know some people are afraid of them.

a one size, fold down rise with no closures interests me. i almost bought the gmd work horse pre fitteds but didnt because of the cost of up sizing.

Don't forget to sell soakers with the left over fabric you cut from the prefolds when you make them fitted.

OOoh fold down rise, snappiable with lay in soaker would be great! I always want to do the prefold thing, but I'm too lazy to do the folding with my wiggly 14 month old. If I could find a pre-fitted like that I'd be glad to buy/test! Not sure if you can list the brand name of the prefold you would be using, but since Zabi are all the rave, I bet many mama's would love to buy pre-fitteds made with those prefolds.
