Re: DH changing birth plan
My DH had a history of fainting at the site of blood (a finger prick, seriously!), so he was really worried about being there for DD1s birth. He did just fine, and was a great support for my last 2 labors. I hope your DH is there to support you and can master his fears. I think having a seprate place in the birthing area he can go if he needs would be a great idea, as well as hiring a doula to help you when you need it incase he can't be there.

Re: DH changing birth plan
I think your decision sounds good. My first reaction was to just tell him to suck it up. Seriously. He's not the one pushing a baby out of his vagina.
Doula/s is such a good idea. And going with what YOU want is what's important. In the end, it's your experience and they're just along for the ride. If he can man up and be there for what you want, then oh well. You shouldn't change YOUR birth for someone who can't get it together! That may be kind of harsh, I suppose. But it is, honestly, exactly what I would tell my husband.
