Re: Baby name opinions with poll

I'm not a fan of the name, but not because of C&T. But if you love it, I don't see a problem with it. I know tons of people who don't like the names we chose for our children - it doesn't bother me. LOL!

I think Tennille is cute and I actually know one IRL, but she spells it Teneal. I have never heard of Captain and Tennille and I am 31.

I say go for it if you like the name. I got called Hillary Clinton growing up and I was born before Bill Clinton was in office (born in '89). I think kids will get picked on for just about anything, honestly.

Re: Baby name opinions with poll

I agree that ANY name will get made fun of in some way. My niece is Jillian and my own son calls her Jello. She hates it, I yell, I lecture, I beg, he calls her Jello. When I was little my mother insisted I be called by my first and middle names, so I was LesLee Ann to everyone, which yes, I think is adorable for a first grader only I went to the same school with the same people from K to Senior year so they all remembered it and called be LesbiAnn from 7th grade on. I hated that but what are ya' going to do? I am not sure how I feel about the name, I think it looks cute but I'd probably drop an 'n' or spell it differently. I am like pp and not sure I am sure how to pronounce it, although I am 29 and have no idea about the reference so I'm sure her school friends wouldn't have a clue either. Also, what would you call her for short or do you not do nicknames?

Re: Baby name opinions with poll

Nope, I wouldn't. I think there are plenty of beautiful, truly unusual names with a lot of history and much less baggage out there. I don't much like the sound of it, either. It really does sound a lot like 'toenail', now that you mentioned it.

I'm 33 and my first thought was Captain and Tennille.

Re: Baby name opinions with poll

I say it like "teh neal" so I don't really get the toenail reference. DH says it's "okay" so we probably won't be using it anyway. I just wish the baby had a name already, even though I know we have lots of time still.

We don't really do nicknames.

Re: Baby name opinions with poll

I like it. I think it is very unusual.

It took me a little while to pronounce it. You might be tied to having to reference C & T. I think I would do it with the easier spelling. Then again my name is Tracey and even my in laws, who have been in my life for 13 years still spell it wrong and drop off the "e".
