Re: How did you deal with colic & when did it go away?
I used to wrap her up in her sling and vaccum the whole house 3 times over. It was the only way to stop the crying and I would rather listen to the vaccum than her screaming for the 20th hour in a row. If she fell asleep I was lucky and she would stay asleep, if she didn't that 10 minute "break" always helped me to regroup.
I hate to tell you this because I know you are hoping this ends soon but my daughter started screaming at 1 day old and didn't stop until 2 and even now at nearly 6 she is still very strong willed and can scream quite a bit when she is tired or hungry.

Re: How did you deal with colic & when did it go away?
DD is six months (technically on Thursday, but whatever...) and STILL battles colic and reflux. I have no advice because I regularly feel like I'm going out of my mind. Just empathy and
It has to get better momma!

Re: How did you deal with colic & when did it go away?
The only thing that helped with conner was the chiropractor. Other than that, I would wear him in a wrap and he was happiest (I won't say happy, that may have never happened :lmao: ). At least n the wrap, though, I could go for walks and get fresh air, walk the mall, etc.... which helped a TON. I also fed him less (he was nursed) often, but less quanity too and minimized his crying as much as possible. I put a wedge under his changing mat so he was never flat, etc..... Warm baths helped too. It did get better.

Re: How did you deal with colic & when did it go away?
Things that helped us:
Amber jewelry. Sleep sitting up with baby on my chest (in a sling or moby wrap of course) Wrap baby..almost like you're swaddling, but with the arms out, so that the blanket is wrapped snugglyg around baby's tummy and chest. The counter pressure makes them feel better. Warm rag on the tummy, or a rice/corn sack on the tummy. For us, it came on around 3 months old, and stayed until about 6 months old (that was with my oldest). My second got by without it (thank goodness!) And my third, it was more mild, and I firmly believe that it's because I bought him an anti-colic anklett/bracelent from Baltic Creations. God bless!

Re: How did you deal with colic & when did it go away?
We have been there, and boy is it tough. We did gripe water, chiropractic care, I ate no dairy or wheat, we babywore, swaddled, rocked, shushed, turned on the hairdryer and every other crazy thing we could think of. Warm baths helped, and so did the gripe water. For us, the Happiest Baby on the Block was the go-to book, but all-said, it is a matter of time. For us, it was about 20 weeks...20 long weeks

Re: How did you deal with colic & when did it go away?
Thanks for the advice, ladies!
We've also tried swaddling, which he hated & a warm rice bag, which didn't seem to help. I will say, when he sleeps it's usually well, but his sleep has gone down hill. I used to simply be able to lay him down at nap time or bedtime & he'd just go to sleep & stay asleep, but now he wakes up over & over, esp. at bedtime. Usually he's woken up several times before DH & I crawl into bed. We might give soy a try soon. We tried soy with DS1 as well & it was so darn constipating for him :/ I'd just hate to have the same happen with DS2.

Re: How did you deal with colic & when did it go away?
We started soy this morning. His ped said it was okay to just completely switch, so his first bottle this morning was 100% Isomil. I'm not expecting to see instant results or anything, but he did seem less uncomfortable due to gas. He had a bowel movement that was abnormal for him, though. I could hear it coming out across the room, lol. It was much more loose & just looked much different than normal. Good or bad sign, who knows. He's sleeping pretty peacefully right now, which is a bit of a change too...but maybe I'm reading too much into things, hehe.

Re: How did you deal with colic & when did it go away?
Quote:
Either a child has reflux issues or is allergic to something that he/she is eating. I am being somewhat facetious, but I think it is way too common to brush off real problems to colic just because your child is too young to challenge that diagnosis. ![]() I had "colic" problems with both of my children and it turned out that they both inherited my milk protein allergy (and yes they have been fully diagnosed by GI docs). If I had stopped at the point when my doc said colic we'd have had battle royale for months with our screaming children. It is NOT natural for your child to cry endlessly or constantly throw up his/her food. HTH...

We have been using the BioGaia L. Reuteri drops. I had read a few studies about it specifically helping with infants. It has helped tremendously.
