Where are you having your baby?

I'm having mine at a hospital which is fairly new, so I'm excited about not having to share a room!!! That is, IF I can make it there in time. So I was just wondering where will you deliver? If you are having a homebirth, may I ask what do you do with the placenta and "stuff" ??

Hospital. Unless you can order epidurals to be delivered to your home like you can pizza or Chinese food--I'm heading to the hospital for the drugs!! (Assuming that I make it on time, also) My first labor was only like 6-ish hours from my water breaking until contractions started and baby was born... SO, assuming that the second baby is faster, we're *hoping* to know enough to go to the hospital!!

Hossie here too. Same one I had DD2 in almost 7 years ago. We also have private rooms, and I really enjoyed being there when DD2 was born.

It's the hospital for me. I hadn't even considered the possiblity of having to share a room. I didn't realize they ever did that for L&D and post-partum. Maybe you won't have to share?

We're staying home . Not sure what you mean by "stuff" but we're throwing the placenta out. I kinda need to research this, though because I've heard you're not supposed to throw it out bc it's considered bio-waste...? All the other plastic and stuff to cover the floors will get thrown out and the towells and sheets we use will be washed .
This is our first hb, so it's kind-of a learning process!!

We're going to a birth center. It's where DD was born and we LOVE it.

We will be at a hospital. Even though we aren't at home, I think we are going to keep the placenta and bury it and plant a tree or bush or something... I used to think that was weird but it doesn't bother me this time.

Re: Where are you having your baby?

at home! we're actually saving the placenta, i'll probably have it encapsulated at some point. I'm using the pink puke bin from the hossy for it right after the birth, and then we have a couple gallon-sized plastic baggies set aside to store it in. Then it will go in the freezer till i figure out what i want to do with it for sure. If we weren't going to keep it, the MW would dispose of it for us. She also takes care of most of the clean-up, though i'm hoping for this all to be done in the water so that there won't be much mess anywhere else!

Re: Where are you having your baby?

Hospital here. It's the same one I delivered all my others at, a small community hospital and it's rare to have to share a room, but it does happen. Last time I shared w/ my SIL who had her baby the night before, we had all the same visitors Other than that I have never had to share. I'm hoping for a 4 hour labor this time around, that's about what my last one was, hope we make it in time!

Re: Where are you having your baby?

I'm having the baby at the same hospital where my other girls were born. They have separate L&D and postpartum rooms, and the postpartum rooms are all private, unless something has changed, but I doubt it.
