Hospital! They built a wonderful new hospital a few years ago and that's where I delivered DD. Beautiful private labor/pp rooms (you don't move). I've never heard of sharing a room

The hospital where I delivered DS and DD delivery rooms are private, but then they shuffle you to a shared room. Last time my "roomie's" SO was in Korea and was on the phone all.night.long. And her visitors didn't leave till well after 11:00 p.m. It's just weird to me to share a room. So hopefully I will make it to the new one and have my private room. I haven't done my tour yet, LOL, but I've heard it's like a hotel!!

What does encapsulating the placenta mean?

Here's a great thread on it, but basically it means having it dried out and ground into a powder, and then put into pill capsules. it can then be taken to help with milk production, PPD, energy, PP bleeding, and if you want to save them - menapause.

Re: Where are you having your baby?

In the hospital where I had ODD. I really wanted a hb, but had no luck what so ever finding a mw in our area. And DH is not feeling ready for the UC route.

Same hospital as I had DS, very nice new maternity unit with the suite type rooms.

Hospital. I work for an OB/GYN who is located 30 steps from L&D and feel most comfortable here!

Re: Where are you having your baby?

At home. We had my daughter here and it was terrific - I'm not much of a hospital person and our local hospital isn't super midwife-friendly. Last time, all the stuff was cleaned up and the placenta was bagged and put in our freezer (much to our surprise - we found it a few weeks later). The midwives here aren't licenced to dispose of it, so we threw it out with the garbage on collection day.

Re: Where are you having your baby?

Hospital here too, I'd love a birthing center with tubs but our insurance won't cover it. I do have fantastic midwives who I love so that helps. The labor and delivery rooms are always private and the pp rooms are almost always private as well unless they get overloaded. I had my last two dc's there and had all private rooms thank goodness.

Re: Where are you having your baby?

Hopefully home again. My last 6 have been beautiful homebirths, and it would be so hard to go back to the hospital after being spoiled with those. Although, my mws do have a good ob and mw friendly hospital to back them up should the need to transfer arise.
