I commute about 25mins from daycare to desk (I do morning drop off) and about 30mins home (DH picks up). I actually like the commute - its when I have a chance to call my mom and talk to her without interuptions (on my way to work). I also like to have my coffee and just listen to my music, I feel like in the morning it gives me the chance to wake up a little and in the evenings its a nice transition between work chaos and home chaos...

all that said...if I could find a job I loved closer to home I would totally jump at the chance for a shorter commute!!!!

Driving it is about 25-40 minutes in traffic. If I took public transportation then it's about an hour.

My commute is about 30 minutes one way for a 25-mile drive. I work night shift (10p-8a) so traffic isn't a problem

Which is great because I HATE sitting in traffic.

It only takes 15 minutes, but then I have to park, walk to the hospital, clock in, dress down into house scrubs -- I leave 30 minutes before my shift starts, and have about a 5 minute cushion.

I take a train into downtown chicago which can take anywhere from 1 hour (express) to 1 1/2 hours each way.

I have to drive 4 miles to drop the kids off at daycare and then 4 miles back into town though...so really 8 miles driving time even though it's only 1 mile from home.

30 minutes to work (DH does dropoff)

50 minutes from work to daycare and 25 minutes home from daycare, so 75 minutes of driving home.

It is all highway.

Takes 8 minutes to get to the DCP's home, about 8 minutes to get to my work from there. Repeat in reverse in the afternoon.

Traffic is never an issue.

I work out of my home 4 days a week, and in the office once a week. The drive takes me an hour. I wish we had public transportation. I'd love to use the time to balance the checkbook, read a magazine, etc.
