how to dispose of "ungreen" household items

I'm spring cleaning and since we have transitioned to mostly natural beauty products and cleaning supplies I have a ton of half used products that need to leave the house. What do I do with them? I don't want to dump them down the drain or throw them in the trash, but what does one due with a half used box of cleaning supplies, first aid creams, perfumes, etc ? I try to use up the bad before I replace with a newer greener option, but some of this stuff will NEVER get used here.

I'm the only green one in my family, so I just always pass it on to my mom, sister, or MIL.

ETA: I've been doing a lot of it lately because my goal when we move next month is not to take any of the junk with me.

yeah, I'd say give it to non-green family members or freecycle it.

We're having a garage sale next weekend and a friend of mine said just freecycle it there! She just labels a big box of free stuff (even half-used lotions, soaps, etc) and she says it's always gone by the end of the day!

We have household hazardous waste disposal days in our city - where you can take things like paint, cleaners, and other things that can't go to the dump, recycled or reused to be properly disposed of. Is there a centre near you that would do that?

I believe so, but I've never actually used them. I don't know that they take things like floor cleaner and beauty supplies. If they can be of use to someone else, I guess I would rather they be used. The people that use them would be buying new "ungreen" products to use in thier place anyway. I took all my bath and body works lotions and perfumes and gave them to a coworker. I don't know why I feel weird about doing the same with the rest of my stuff.

Give to a shelter or nonprofit.
