Re: When did you change car seats?

I think we switched to the Britax when DS was about 5 months old. He was never a big fan of his infant carrier seat- he was much happier in the Britax...

We switched around 5 months. Just make sure that he fits well in the RA...straps at or below his shoulders.

Re: When did you change car seats?

We used a britax decathlon from birth. Never had a problem. I did have a snugride for carrying dd around the 1st couple of months but i didn't use it as a car seat.

Re: When did you change car seats?

Our youngest was switched into her Britax about a month ago when she was 2 mos. She has horrible reflux and SCREAMED the whole time in the new Graco we bought. She's so much happier now that it was definetely worth it, but it is a bummer not to be able to take her in and out when she's asleep with just one click. She looks so cute sitting up in that big ole Britax like her brother and sister though.

Re: When did you change car seats?

DS was moved into a RF convertable at 4 months because he was close to outgrowing his infant seat. DD was moved at 6 months, and was nowhere near outgrowing her car seat, but she was so much happier in her Boulevard

Re: When did you change car seats?

We switched dd#2 at about 4 months i think? But we did keep her rear facing til 16 months (til i started to worry she'd break her legs in an accident lol). We have 2 carseats one is a graco and the other is the britex. Only probs we had was when she slept the bigger seats dont really cushion their heads.

I agree that as long as you keep him rear facing it should be ok

Re: When did you change car seats?

Miles was in a Peg Perego Primo Viaggio until he was 18 pounds in January. I was afraid he was going to hit the 20 pound mark very quickly so I put him in the Britax Decathlon. Ironically, for the past 4 months he has stayed at 18 pounds.

I have friends that put their babies in the Convertibles (such as the roundabout) right from the hospial.
I moved 1st ds when he was 7m and reached the height requirement (he did not get to 20lbs until he was 11m.

I moved my little one out recently around 9m because he had reached the height requirement. He is 21lbs so he only had a little more time in it.

Good luck

Re: When did you change car seats?

I have been toying with this idea for a while too. Hannah is only 12 lbs, she she could still be in her Snugride for a long time, but we got her Marathon in and it's tempting me! Most of the time when we go shopping I don't keep her in her carseat anyways, I put her in a sling. If I click her carseat in the shopping cart, then I worry constantly that my 2 year old is going to knock her out, and then he gets into everything because he is sitting in the back. If I wear Hannah in the sling, then I can put the 2 year old in the seat part and that fixes all the problems.

We'll see how long I hold out before I finally do make the switch.
