What car seat should I get? ...

Dh and I are going back and forth over this one. We're just not sure...

So, we decided to get other people's opinions. lol

Roundabout OR Marathon

I spoke with the sales person at our local baby store and basically she said that the Marathon is fine. It just doen'st have all the bells and whistles as the others (boulevard, etc.)

Anyways, We know that the roundabout goes up to 40 lbs. and that the marathon goes up to 65. But here's what we're thinking...we can get the roundabout and keep her in it until 40 lbs and then buy the parkway (or whatever britax) booster. This is what we did for our older dd ...

Or we can just buy the marathon and be done.

But here's why we're debating... our older dd at 4 yo didn't like to be strapped in the roundabout and she was already too tall for it. She prefers her booster seat and buckling up like a "big" girl. So I can imagine that the younger dd might be the same way and would probably not want to sit in the marathon at 6 yo, or even 7yo and be buckled up like a baby, kwim?

So...wwyd? what do you think? roundabout and then later booster? or marathon?

I vote Marathon. My 9.5 year old doesn't like sitting in her booster like a baby but this is an area where she has no choice.

I voted Marathon too... and I agree that this isn't an area where they should get a choice, kwim? My DS is very small for his age so he'll probably fit in the Boulevard for a loooong time, regardless of wether or not he thinks its for a baby. And then after that, there's another seat online somewhere with a 5-point harness that goes up to 100 pounds...

Anyway, have you seen the "Importance of a 5-point harness" video? Its sad, but very eye opening!

BTWN the 2, definitely the Marathon- way better investment 'cause you'll use it way longer. If your kids seats will be by the door, do consider the Boulevard because it has side impact protection- pretty important when you think about what would happen if you get T Boned by someone running a light. Sorry for the scare tactics there- we were rear ended by a semi truck last summer and I still haven't gotten over it.

I voted Marathon but if it were actually me buying it would be Marathon and then Regent (if I could afford it) or booster.

Oh how I envy you ladies in the States with your seats that harness so high. Tobias will be in a harness as long as is possible and then a booster again, until he absolutely must go to a seatbelt.

There is no choice when it comes to safety. If he were ever injured or killed because I let him out of the safest seat I would never forgive myself.

I didnt vote, but I would get the marathon and then if she needs to transfer out before the weight limit thats ok. I havent priced roundabouts for a while, but when I bought the marathon was only like 20$ more.

You never know if your 2nd will be heavy. I have a 2.5 year old who is 36lbs. Shes SLOWLY gaining, but I think shes goign to hit 40lbs before 4. If I had limited myself to the roundabout I would either have to buy the marathon anyways, or move her to a booster before I was ready. I am glad that I got the marathon, that way I can move her when I am ready, not move her because she outgrew the seat.

I voted Marathon. The longer they can be in a 5 point, the better, no matter whether they like it or not.

We have 3 Marathons and I wouldn't do it any other way.

Re: What car seat should I get? ...

I'd get the Marathon. My 2.5 year old has already outgrown his RA and he certainly isn;t ready for a booster. That meant buying another harnessing seat for him. We would have been better off getting the Marathon in the beginning!

I vote Marathon. Kids usually outgrow the RA by height before they are ready for a booster.
