Mei Tai ?

I just got a mei tai and so far it is interesting. My son is 19 months and we normally use a ring sling but the hip carry has been getting to me. I got one from fsot and like it so far. I can do a front carry facing me and facing out. My son likes facing out better. How do you do a hip carry? I looked at a few videos on youtube and am still not sure. I tried one with my son the other day and he was too fussy. I also did a back carry where I had my husband put him on my back and he was ok. I later tried to do one on my own and my son had a meltdown. I think I scared him. How do you get them used to a back carry? Thanks.

Just keep attempting the back might take a few times, or a while, to like it. I didn't start wearing my older 2, at all, until they were almost 16/17mos old, and they didn't like back carry at first, or being carried at all, much...they are 2.5yo now, and they ask to be carried on my back now!

You should for sure try to get him on your back! At 19 mos FFO will probably hurt your back soon...his weight is thrown forward and away from your center of gravity when he's FFO...

Here's a youtube vid to watch that might help with the back carry!

I don't do that one, but a hip scoot:

Happy to help! : )

You could get on your knees on your bed, and just leave the carrier aside, and just practice getting your DS on and then right back off your back, over and over, to build some confidence. (And at that age, he might think that it's a fun game to "climb" on Mommy, lol) And try different methods for getting him onto your back. I get my DS on my back by going over my shoulder, but then get him down using the hip scoot. I absolutely can NOT use the hip scoot to get him on my back, though. It's like his big head doesn't fit under my arm, lol.

just keep trying. My LO hated the wrap at first, and now he is loving it. Also, once your LO is in, you can try walking or swinging a little for him to settle in.
