Dad babywearing

two questions:

1.) will your dh babywear?

2.) if yes, what kinds will he use?
if no, what kinds do you have that he has rejected?

oh and a bonus one... If no, what are his excuses, err, "reasons"?

Yes
Ring slings, Wraps,Mei tais, half buckles and Oh Snap are what has worked best for him. There have been a few other buckle carriers that were too small for him as he is pretty broad chested. How old is your baby?
With little ones under 5-6 m his favorite is a stretch wrap like a sleepy or moby and with bigger ones he is using currently the olives and applesauce hybrid half buckle and it fits well.

Re: Dad babywearing

1.) no
2.) mei tai and ring sling
but.... I just borrowed a Beco from a friend and I am HOPING to be able to convince him to give it a try

I think he is afraid of it, the two I had both have high learning curves and took me weeks to figure out and aren't a "sure thing". One day I could have a great carry, the next day, he could be wriggling everywhere. Also, I think some of it could be ego issues....but rooted in the learning curve. He's a real man (rolling my eyes) and it wouldn't be manly (again, rolling my eyes) to spend time learning how to use a baby carrier.

Yes, DH wears...and will wear any carrier I have, even the girlier ones. He has been known to rock a River BB2, a Critter print Cranberry Ergo and my AmyButler WaterLotus SV Bamberoo! That being said, he was excited when the helicopter laden BB2 Duke came to live with us!

Re: Dad babywearing

We have an Oh Snap and a Kinderpack on the way and he's excited to try those too. He wears our nearly 8 months old little man, and our 4 1/2 year old.

He did rock the Moby once or twice when DD was little, but he's a buckle guy!

you were quick too!
And you make a good point... of course my head was running away and picturing the Beco working for us and then trying to find a used one. I am not picky, even with ds, I figure, hey, I'm a girl, I don't care if its pretty or pink but dh probably would And normally I would say "get over it" but he probably wouldn't and then I would be stuck wearing ds the entire time (which is how it is now anyway but then what would the point be of getting a new carrier....tho it would likely be easier, but still)

Re: Dad babywearing

I should note that its very handy to talk all Dhs into wearing if you have two kids.....we have taken some nice hikes/trips to the park/fairs/etc with no crazy strollers and bags and such....makes for more fun and less stuff to haul around. We can both play with our DD outside and walk the dog together while one or both kiddos sleep. It really opens things up a bit, gives you more options to be more active!

Re: Dad babywearing

yeah I think dh probably would be a buckle guy too What I like about the Beco, is that I could put ds in it, and as long as dh can stand there, then I should be able to get them all set. He won't have to do anything but stand there. So as long as the straps don't pinch him, etc, I am hoooping it will work!
