Test your soil. Moss likes soil with low ph. Grass likes higher ph. I don't know if you consider it too chemical-y but you could put some lime down and see if that helps. Also- moss likes compact soil. HTH

I have two dogs and 4 kids that will go outside, so lime probably isn't a good idea, but thanks. I was supposed to go to the nursery the other day, well several different times, but it keeps raining or my kids are too cranky and now my dog is really sick. She might have a brain tumor.
