Sling carriers - which are dangerous/bad/recalled?

My SIL is pregnant with their first and mentioned over the phone (we live 3000 miles apart) that someone gave her a used sling. She doesn't know much about baby carriers and wasn't even sure what type it was. I know I've seen posts on here about one that was recalled. Is there a link to information about proper/improper use of slings and which are dangerous that I could send to her? I've never been a sling user myself and never looked much into them so am not even sure where to search for this information. I would hate for her to use something that is dangerous for her LO when he/she arrives.

Here's a good start on fit/safety http://www.cpsc.gov/CPSCPUB/PREREL/prhtml10/10165.html

This is a VERY GOOD site, easy to read:
http://www.sleepingbaby.net/safety.php

Hopefully she can make sure she has a ring sling or a safe pouch for her squishy... if not, she needs to throw it out!

Re: Sling carriers - which are dangerous/bad/recalled?

Thank you for the links. I will pass both of them on to her. I think she will take the time to read them, especially when I explain that there are dangers to using certain types of slings and the risk of possible death. I have been trying to encourage her to look into getting a good baby carrier (w/o being too pushy). I need to find another link or more that explain some of the benefits of baby wearing, good vs. bad carriers, and maybe offer to mail my moby to her to try out when her newborn arrives.

All of these are pretty much all about slings. Is there a good link to something that talks about the importance of a good seat as opposed to a crotch dangler? Or something about how face outward isn't great? I know these things probably from being part of DS and TBW and can't think of where this info would be easier to get to.

Sorry for the hijack. I *think* you may have been looking for this answer, too though.
