Sunscreen/Sunblock

Hi,

My DD just turned 6 months and we are going away for a week somewhere hot.
Any recommendations for sunscreen or sunblock??
We have sunhats, sunshirts for the water and a UV block tent for the beach but I want to have something else as well in case it's needed.
I don't know if there is anything less chemical, but that would be what I'm hoping for.
Any other advice for sun safety with a baby is appreciated!!

Thanks

I ended up using the waterbabies after several others, including neutrogena gave DS a rash. I tried the Burt's Bees, it didn't give him a rash but it was runny and wouldn't rub in.

I just got some from Badger Balm but haven't used any on myself yet and don't have a baby to use it on just yet either! But a friend of mine recommended the sunscreen to me - she uses it on her kids and loves it.

Non-"chemical" sunscreens don't rub in. They are providing a barrier by sitting on the surface. California baby, badgers and Burt's bees all will not rub in. It'll just make you look white, but it will work.

Yeah - it's a pain in the butt too.

We have the badger stuff and had some of the Cali Baby stuff too - it's super thick and really expensive. My kid is super pasty and has thin hair so I feel like I'm ripping it out when I try to get his scalp. Someone recommended the California Baby sunscreen stick but it's almost $20 and I just can't do it. I know that the non-chemical ones are the best but someone needs to come out with a generic brand.

I use the cali baby stick but I use the blue lizard baby which is chemical/fragrance free and it is cheaper, somewhere around $10-$12.

Re: Sunscreen/Sunblock

Thanks for the help!!

I live in Canada, so some of those brands (or most if not all) are not available here. I was lucky though and my parents were on vacation in the USA and they were able to find the Blue Lizard brand.
Very happy about that!!!

I'm all about the spray ones. I LOVE them...best invention ever IMO

I guess if you want one that is more natural-ish, I'd suggest the Aveeno brand.

ETA: for a baby, I'd cover her face when spraying and I'd use a baby lotion sunblock on her face.

We use California Baby. I don't mind the thin layer of white since then I definitely know if I've missed a spot on dd. If you want to know whether a particular sunscreen brand and type is safe in terms of chemicals, you can check out the ewg site: http://www.ewg.org/2010sunscreen/fin...20INC&start=50
