Another vote for the squat-and-pee.

I have seen this before but I have a hard time believing that it would be so easy to use without any spillage...kwim

You dig one hole, and everyone uses it I'm envisioning fields of kids digging their own tiny little holes to pee in like cats.

I've also used one of the plastic urinals, with a lid, that I can empty at camp/home. Like I mentioned before. Not a fan of peeing all over. I don't like when men do it either.

ETA: I am thinking about getting one of these for myself for festivals and shows. I have "hovered" in waaaay to many porta-potties in my day. I would much prefer to stand and pee.

Yes, one communal hole would definitely be better. Can you imagine how gross it would be to go for a picnic after everyone had made their cat scratch zones? "Hey! Why is the picnic blanket all wet?!" I like the idea of containing it until it is appropriate to dispose of too.

I am definitely looking forward to NOT hovering at festivals. Usually the greenhouse effect in those things is bad enough!

Re: Would you teach your daughter to pee standing up?

I bought some "feminine urinary devices" for international travel years ago (not the pstyle, but something really similar) and I took one on a test run at home before leaving and um, yeah, pee everywhere. I got really good at squatting instead.

Squat and pee. There is no way I could do this without laughing.
