Update 4/23 The nephrostomy is working! His creatonine levels cut down by half over night. Yeah! So possibly Monday he will get to come home. I have to learn how to empty his bag though because he can't reach his back. Hopefully it isn't too difficult. Anyways, thanks for all the prayers. Hopefully he'll get back on chemo this week.

Update 4/22 Well the best guess right now is that the cancer is so far spread that tumors are blocking the flow of urine from the kidneys. So he is going to have a procedure done today that is called a nephrostomy (spelling?). Anyways, basically tubes will be routed from the kidneys and out his side so that urine will come out into a bag. If that works and helps his kidney function he will be able to go back on chemo. He just started a new type of chemo so we are unsure if it is even working yet, so hopefully it all comes together for the next stage of the game.

Many of you are aware of my husband's illness. He was diagnosed with stage four metastatic prostate cancer in October of 2008 and was diagnosed with small cell carcinoma of unknown origin (most likely prostate) in october of 2010. He has been having a lot of bumps in the road as of lately. He responded well initially to the chemotherapy but after a two month break his cancer started spreading again. He started a new type of chemotherapy three weeks ago. Well, he hadn't been feeling well and finally today I called his doctor myself because DH is so stubborn. Anyways I took him in and they drew labs. His creatonin was over 5, which is severely high. Basically his kidneys are shutting down and they do not know why. He was admitted today and will be there for who knows how long. At this point I don't know if he will even get to come home.

Thank you everyone. It's kind of funny, but all of you on DS sort of feel like family, you know? I couldn't wait to just sit down and get on here and vent away. It's sort of calming, you know?

I just said goodnight to DH on the phone, he is getting fluids, but at this point we don't know anything else. Hopefully tomorrow we'll have some answers. Thank you all!
