Re: Our Family cloth (tolietpaper) set up w/pics

Well personally I use it because I hate when TP busts apart mid use. It is gentler on the skin. Works better in general. And saves money on top of that.

it saves money, but also it is better for the environment since it's not just about where the waste goes, but resources that are used to produce something in the first place.

Interesting......thanks for sharing. This is something I'm contemplating, I haven't even told dh yet because I know he'll think I'm a nut. I don't think I'd want to wash FC for him anyway, lol. I would be interested in trying it for the girls and I (maybe just for #1 right now)........I'm still overwhelmed though.......we have 4 bathrooms that we use so I'm not sure how I'd go about it......I'd have to haves stashes in every bathroom.

Very cool to see, doesn't look as bad as it originally sounded to me!
Do you and the girls use it as TP for both #1 and #2? I'd LOVE to cut down on TP, my girls use huge wads everytime, and end up almost always clogging the toilet. DH is totally against using it, but I bet I could get the girls to use it. DS just PL'ed, so he's used to cloth wipes anyhow. DH might freak about it, though. Hmmmm...

I just started using it about a month ago. I use it for both. It's really not that bad. For #2s, I just wet the wipe, and then put it in the wetbag when I'm done. I empty the wetbag into the diaper pail every night. No smells or anything. DS is potty trained, and he knows to put the wipe in the bag when he's done. DH won't even entertain the idea of using FC, which is ok. He's fine with me using it and makes the occasional comment, but it doesn't affect him any, so really, what does it matter? I'm hoping he'll come around, but I think it weirds him out that I'd be washing his dirty wipes, lol. It wouldn't bother me, but our TP usage has drastically been reduced since I started using it with me and DS.

You wet the wipe by standing up and walking to the sink? Or how?

Thanks for the inspiration/motivation
Ditto!
although I am NOT going to discuss it with DH. I'm just going to do it. My dd has major use-too-much-TP issues!

Not to hijack but had to share my set up. I have a double sided wet dry bag hanging on the towel rack next to the toilet. The clean ones are in one side and the dirties (which aren't that dirty bc we use a bidet) are in the wet side. When the bag fills up the whole bag goes in the wash. We use motherease terry wipes as family cloth :-)

I can reach my sink by sitting, so I just reach over and wet it under the faucet.

Love this idea but would love to see other people's set up! Doesn't seem like too many people use FC
