Re: Anybody else not doing a "first outfit" and that type of stuff?

I am taking some sleepers and onesie, and also a cute dress! I admit I just couldn't resist! I brought my other 2 girls home in cute dresses, too (well, one was a romper in Feb., but it was velvet w/ lace on it). I usually put them in the dress for a few minutes, then change them into a sleeper to go home. The way it is right now a dress would be too cold!

We are also doing a hb, and don't know the gender... So I have a bunch of gn woolies that I made that are mostly solids so they'll match more shirts. Not too fancy over here, either!

Re: Anybody else not doing a "first outfit" and that type of stuff?

I'm not doing anything special, I'll pick out a cute boyish and girly (we don't know what we are having) sleeper that the other kids wore (we are recycling their clothes as much as possible) but that's it. I think they look more comfy in sleepers too. I think its fun to pick out a special outfit but I don't really have the budget (or time and energy) to do it.

Even though we're having a homebirth, my MW likes us to have the 1st diaper, outfit, and hat set aside and ready. So I have a super-cute NB mutt, and a super-cute little footed sleeper that was DS's. Both GN since we don't know the sex. So, we have cute outfit ready, but it's not anything super-special, in fact the sleeper has some (very light) stains on it from DS!

Re: Anybody else not doing a "first outfit" and that type of stuff?

I knitted this for him and have it packed in my bag as his coming home outfit:

The yarn is a 70/30 wool/bamboo blend, so it isn't diaper-cover woolies, they're just silky, soft pants.

but I'm thinking it could be way too big since he'll be in a disposable, so I'm also bringing the smallest sleeper we have. DS1 came home in a newborn sleeper because the outfit I had picked out for him was too big, so I am prepared if it doesn't work out. I don't think of the knitted outfit it as "fussy," though, I just thought it would be sweet and comfy...is it fussy?

I have homebirths so no coming home outfit, but all the nb clothes I buy are only 100% soft stretchy cotton one piece type outfits like sleepers, gowns, or onesies.

Mine is coming home in a sleeper, I think it's ridiculous to put tiny babies in complicated outfits.

Mine will be coming home in a sleeper as well. Nothing fancy here. Hmmm I haven't even bought/picked one out. I may just bring one from DS and one from DD since we don't know the gender. I will bring two sizes, though. The outfit I brought for DS was way too big. So I will have a newborn sleeper on hand.

Re: Anybody else not doing a "first outfit" and that type of stuff?

I only have a NB blanket sleeper and and 0-3 mo gown just in case he turns out huge (not likely) packed. I also tend to be minimalist though. What other "type of stuff" did you mean? I also don't bring a nice outfit for me to come home in, or worry about how I look in pictures.
