Bumpy receiving blankets vs Gerber flats

Okay, so after spending hundreds of dollars on diapers DD is currently napping in a receiving blanket origami folded under a fleece soaker. I figured with her rash I could put on lots of cream and not worry about the blanket having issues. Since I only have 6 prefolds, and I'm not yet sure how this blanket will work out, I was thinking of getting some more cotton diapers to use until the rash goes away. Are gerber flats terrible? I can easily run to BRU or Walmart and pick some up today, and have plenty for her to get over her rash, but I don't want to waste my money. Am I better off just using up all my receiving blankets? FWIW, most of my blankets are not smooth. I can't think of what they are called but they're the ones with raised squares (is it waffle-something?).

How old is your DD? the Gerber flats are on the small small side. I used them on my newborn and loved them and can still use then doubled up on my 6 week old.

If you're going to Walmart, you might want to get the flour sack instead. They are in the kitchen section. I love them. They are very soft .

She is 7 months. Are those going to be big enough?

I hear the flour sack towels are about the same size as all the other flats. I would try those over gerber. there is a thread I think that compares the flour sack towels to other flats and receiving blankets on here and has pictures...

Your blankets should be fine to use! But if you need more, then I say get some flour sack towels!

I think the Gerber will be too small or not absorbent enough. I agree with other people, get some flour sacks and you should be good to go! Good luck momma!

I use really old,11yrs, gerber prefolds and they are fairly absorbant. I dare say more than my FB microfiber I know at least as much. But I use mine as inserts. Depending on how wide your baby is in the hips they should fit enough to get you by for now.
