I'm a cheap skate. And I also didn't buy an infant carrier for ds. But when my mother-in-law saw our plan she decided we needed one. Oh my I am so grateful for her insight. It was a blessing to have.
I would talk to friends, at church, play groups, around, see if someone has one that their little one just out grew that you could borrow for a few months. If its still new enough its still a good and safe. Many people have one in their storages that are still good and they are waiting for their next baby to use. I wouldn't go buy one until you've exhausted your options.
