Swim diaper question

I am looking for a swim diaper for my LO who will be 5 mths in June and is EBF. I am concerned about the diaper's (cloth or disposable) effectiveness at containing the "mess". Also, I like the snap/velcro idea as opposed to the pull-up/down, but am not set on it. The Bummis swim diapers look super cute and are available at our local cloth diaper shop. The iPlay look great too, and the Charlie Banana are really cute, but both are pull-on/off. Any suggestions/experience? Thanks!

Re: Swim diaper question

You definately don't want pull down. I did that and ewwwww. (The disposies "tear" at the sides so you don't have to pull down. I didn't know this for way too long). But for the most part, they really do hold in the poo, cloth or otherwise.

And they are not waterproof, so if you put it on before you leave the house and the kiddo pees, it will make a mess.

Chelory makes awesome swim diapers but you need to be there at noon eastern on a tuesday to get one as it sells out in under a minute.

Re: Swim diaper question

Yeah, go for the Bummis so you can unvelcro it. Like the PP said, imagine having to pull it down and smearing poo everywhere, ha.

Re: Swim diaper question

An unstuffed pocket is basically what a swim diaper is except that a swim diaper, at least for Chelory, is thinner in the crotch area than a normal pocket diaper. It is ok to use a pocket diaper or even an ai2 diaper for a swim diaper but you really should designate only one or maybe two diapers for just swim diapers or that you don't really care too much for and you can use them for swim and regular diapers. The chlorine takes a toll on the diaper so dont' use a diaper you really love in the pool.

Re: Swim diaper question

I love the new AMP ones. They come in two sizes & are so super stretchy & have snaps. I like that because my velcro ones would hook my bathing suit if my little guy wasn't wearing his swim trunks over top.
