Tired of Changing Daycare Providers (Update 6/5)

I feel like I am in a never ending search for daycare providers .

DCP #1 stopped watching the kids because she became a foster parent and then got pregnant.

DCP#2 had family drama and then got pregnant

DCP#3 she wasn't in our local school district and we couldn't work out transportation when my husband started a new job

DCP#4 is our current provider and while she's dependable, and licensed, the kids just get disgustingly dirty while they are at her house. I am tired of replacing clothes! Don't get me wrong, I get that kids get dirty, I have 3 of them, but enough is enough. Plus, my middle child hates going to her house and I am tired of fighting with him.

So tonight I am researching to see if we can find someone else to watch the kids. It's just so exhausting. Ugh!!

Thanks for letting me vent

Re: Tired of Changing Daycare Providers

That is exhausting! That probably the major "con" of doing home daycares. You have to deal with the providers personal life. Sounds like there wasn't anything that the first three could do about their situations and who knows whats going on with the 4th. Does she say why the kids are so filthy? I am guessing she just has more kids than she can handle. I hope you find something great soon! If it makes you feel any better, a lot of people have the same issues even with facilities. Maybe your kid is in the same place for years but they are going thru the same number of teachers if not more than a home daycare. Sucks either way.

I hear you. We went through 3 DCP in ODD's first year of life. We have been with #3 for over 2 years now, but that situation is getting bad (due to DCP's personal life). I am currently debating whether to stay with in-home care or just go to a center... It's tough all around. Good luck with your search!

Have you considered using a center?

Re: Tired of Changing Daycare Providers

Unfortunately a center isn't really an option for us. We live in a pretty rural area and the only "center" is really only for infants and toddlers, so at best we could use them for our youngest. I work about 25 miles from our house and I could consider some daycare options out that way, but it would have them in daycare longer than if we had them closer to home. I work 8-5, so they would be there at 7:30 and picked up around 5:15 or 5:30. My husband works 3rds, so they are really only at daycare while he sleeps during the day, which works out to be 7:30 to 3. We try and do as few hours in daycare as possible, KWIM?

Re: Tired of Changing Daycare Providers

I have two REALLLLLY good providers in Michigan. I don't know exactly where though, because I'm in Arizona, and I don't really know Michigan.

http://www.metrodetroitmommy.blogspot.com/ <--she can possibly help with finding really good providers.

If you lived near the other one, you'd know her because she has an awesome program, but I'll go ask her what town she's living in.
