I was wondering why "rainbow" twins (in your signature)? Is there a meaning to this?
I just wanted to tell you that I am a believer in symbols and I know that rainbow means that "everything is in the right place".
I saw a rainbow many times in stressfull situations- first when I was a teenager and my parents were moving all of us from a big city to a small village in the middle of the woods. I was going to be isolated from all my previous friends, but on the way back - from viewing the new house - we all saw a rainbow and my mom said "it means everything will work out". And it did.

This time when I found out I was pregnant I went outside for a walk with my puppy and a beautifull green HUMMINGBIRD flew by me and stopped for about 10 seconds staring me in the face (I was waiting for the dog to do his business in front of a flowery bush). Humminbirds are symbols of "NEW LIFE" and when they fly by they ask you a question "where is your joy?" (I researched it

I just wanted to let you know that I feel happy for you having twins- they are so close to my heart because my dear sister just had twin girls...I don't know when I will be able to see them because they live in Scotland and I never have enough money to go there...I miss them all tremendously...

It's an analogy for a rainbow after a storm.

Re: 1st ultrasound

THe ultrasound went well. It turns out my blood work levels were high because I'm 7 1/2 weeks pregnant with Identical twins. They are due Christmas eve. However, they are Monoamniotic Twins "Momo or Mono Twins" and are very high risk because both babies are growing in the same sac. The egg divided about a week late and the time to form a 2nd sac had already passed. They will be delivered c-section by 34 weeks if not sooner due to cord problems and limited space. There is a 50% survival rate and then normal NICU risks apply. Very scary but I have an appointment with a specialists next week. They usually recomend inpatient or long hospital stays atarting at 24 weeks to constantly monitor the babies. Not sure how my 15 month old will respond to that.

I wish I could remember what my SIL had... she definitely has identical twins and they shared something - either the sac or the placenta. She suspects they had twin to twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) although it was never confirmed - they were born 2 lbs apart despite being identical. The smaller baby had only 2 blood vessels in her cord, instead of 3. They were born at around 36 weeks and stayed in the NICU for a couple weeks, but they are happy, healthy, perfect little 3 year olds now. I am thinking they were not Momo twins (although I do remember SIL using that term but I don't think it applied to her - she was not hospitalized for long or anything like you describe).

to you mama... sounds like you have a long road ahead, and I'll pray for a happy, healthy pregnancy for you and that your twins are born as late as possible, with no complications.

Re: 1st ultrasound

Haven't read the pp post, but I actually had my first u/s today. I was very excited, and it was a surprise. I went to talk to a geneticist because I'm going to be 35 when the baby is born and because I was on some medications at the time of conception since this is a birth control baby.
Everything is fine, thankfully nothing I was taking had a chance to affect the baby since I found out about the pregnancy and stopped so early.

Anyways, I got to see the tiny sac and the heart flutter...being so early it was a close look, but was definitely nice to see so early. I am about 6 weeks. I go back on the 27th for the "real" u/s where my bf will be coming, then again at 18-20 weeks. I think it's a little less popular for it to happen but certainly not unusual.

Re: 1st ultrasound

Went for my first u/s today. I expected to measure 6wks/4days from my charting I'm absolutely certain of my O date. However, I only measured 5wks/4days. Tech saw a gestational sac and yolk sac, but no baby yet. She said it was just too early to see. I'm feeling a little down as being a week off at this point seems like a big deal to me. I go back wed for another u/s and hopefully things are looking better by then! I hate the waiting.
