am i the only one?
who works 40 hours a week doing nothing? and its not like i have work to do and im not doing it. i mean having NO work to do and sitting around staring at the computer for 8 hours. I test medical software for the military, but right now there is nothing to test. i am an hourly employee so i dont get leave!! if i didnt make good money, i would have left a long time ago. I wish i could be a SAHM but hubby wants me to contribute 50% to everything (which i can understand).
am i the only one in this boat? |

That sounds great to me. If I had nothing to do at work I could do my schoolwork at work and I could focus my at home time on my DD. Alas, I have to do actual work at work.
Maybe you could take some online classes with your downtime and work toward a more rewarding career? Sent from my iPhone using DS Forum

Re: am i the only one?
yikes, I am the total opposite. Spring through fall I am so swamped I can never catch up. Occasionally in winter, business gets slow enough for me to get caught up. On the rare occasion that it does, I get bored fast. Somewhere in the middle would be nice.

Re: am i the only one?
It must be very draining in its own way. I totally sympathize! I wonder if you could talk to your manager to see if there's some other assignments you could be given on the side, just to make your day more worthwhile?

Re: am i the only one?
My workload is in a lull right now too. I'm sure it will pick up, but I just returned from maternity leave and all I can think about is missing my LO...

Re: am i the only one?
I can relate right now. I am salaried so its not too bad knowing Im getting paid well to do little. I usually study (Im in the process of getting licensed) or poke around the internet or do crafty type projects (e.g., working on a friend's baby blanket) in my downtime. Sometimes I get to sneak away to go see DS at daycare and thats very nice. It makes WOH a little easier to tolerate.

Re: am i the only one?
I have my slow time of year and very busy time of year so I've been in your shoes. I'm gearing up for my busy time of year right now. During my slow time I read, spend way too much time on DS and clean and organize my office. I'm salaried and they need me here for that busy time so I don't feel guilty for keeping myself busy during my slow time.

Re: am i the only one?
Usually I'm pretty busy but there are times it slows down and I get bored.
When that happens I troll DS...like now

No way! That's me right now! We have a lull because we do annual fundraising and we don't start up again until summer. So I sit here. And sit here. I can't even update our website because we aren't doing anything.
My boss has mentally checked out. He doesn't care and he's hardly here.

The only job I ever hated was the one that paid me the most, but gave me nothing to do. I felt so undervalued and just not needed. I was given a 2000 page manual to read to pacify me. I hated every second of that job. I often found myself creating calculus problems to do so I wouldn't fall asleep.
