Re: how much milk does your 2 yr old drink?

DD is 2.5 and drinks between 16 and 24 oz a day...pretty much two sippy cups, occasionally a bit more. When DS was that age, he drank at least 1/2 a gallon a day, usually more...he's always been a big milk drinker, just like DH...he's cut back on it a bit lately though and prefers water. Still though...between the two kids and DH, we go through 5-6 gallons a week...I only use milk on cereal (and I don't drink it) and in recipes that call for it...I don't drink it at all

Re: how much milk does your 2 yr old drink?

My son just turned 2 years old and doesn't drink any milk. He stopped drinking bottles and formula at just over 12 months and has never liked milk at all. He literally drinks 0oz a day. He mostly drinks water with the occasional diluted juice. His ped says it is no problem because he eats yogurt and cheese everyday.

DS usually drinks about 24 oz a day, sometimes as little as 8, sometimes up to 48. If he's not feeling up to eating for whatever reason, he drinks a lot more. He also drinks 4-8 oz of half juice/half water most days.

Some weeks I barely drink milk, some I'll drink 48 ozs a day. I see no reason a 2 year old should be much different.

My 2.5yo is a light drinker, probably 8-18oz/day of milk, and 1-4 oz of water.

My DS still BFs and other than that, he mostly just drinks water. He'll occasionally ask for a bit of cows milk or almond milk to drink but that's not often. He eats cereal with milk each morning and also has yogurt and cheese most days. I think if you're concerned about your LOs iron then opt for natural sources as opposed to fortified drinks, etc. Though meat is basically the best source for iron that is the most absorbable/easy to digest, there are plenty of non-meat sources for iron. Here's a link...

None. He drinks water, with a very very occasional (once a month?) Motts for Tots which is watered down juice. Sometimes he will have some herbal tea but it's usually just water.

Re: how much milk does your 2 yr old drink?

My 3 year old drinks anywhere from 21-40 oz of milk a day, whole or 2% mixed with carnation instant breakfast. But, she eats VERY little food (has major feeding delays and sensory issues), so we will take what we can get!

at 2 DS wasn't drinking any milk, only water, maybe a little hemp or rice milk for his cereal or porridge but otherwise just a good varied diet

20-30oz depending on the day. I have to ration it out or he would drink a gallon and refuse to eat. I had read, and later my doc confirmed, that I should keep it to 20oz or less. That's so hard to do some days. I try to give him 3 or 4 sippies of ~5oz--one when he wakes, 1 before his nap, sometimes one late afternoon, and one before bed.

uhm maybe one cup a day? the rest he drinks water and maybe one cup off all natural juice. milk isn't that great of thing to fill up on IMO and too much of it can make a child anemic (especially over 24 ounces). http://www.aafp.org/afp/2002/1001/p1217.html
