new sleep pattern?

So... tell me I'm just paranoid. My. 8wk-old son slept through the night last night (12:15-6:45) entirely of his own accord, and I should be happy - but instead I'm concerned. For the past couple of days, he has been sleeping a TON. I know that the body's reaction to sickness is fatigue and wanting to sleep extra to focus its energies on repairing itself - and I can't help but wonder if that's what's going on, with such a drastic change in his sleep patterns.

Also, he seemed to be nursing a lot the past few weeks, and I heard that around six to eight weeks they tend to hit a growth spurt and nurse more often - so am I just seeing the end of his growth spurt and he seems lethargic just becase he's not nursing constantly?

Just curious if anyone else's little ones have gone through similar changes, and if it's normal and I'm just paranoid, since he doesn't display any other "symptoms" to tell me he's ill. His temp by ear is just 98.1, so... yeah.

He goes for his 2-month visit to the doctor's this Friday, so I'll ask. The doc, too... just wanted to hear from mommas, too.

Mine always ate and slept a lot when they hit their growth spurts. The sleeping thing never lasted for me though.

If he's gaining fine and doesn't seem ill, enjoy it! Mine was doing an 8 hour stretch by 9 weeks...and it all went down hill at 12 weeks ;-)
