Is this poison ivy?

It was only this one small cluster for about a week now and today I noticed that it is now on the other leg and on the back of this leg.

I just noticed a few more isolated bumps/blisters on the upper back of her leg and up by her buttocks.

Re: Is this poison ivy?

It looks like poison ivy to me mama, I had it last week. If it is, the thing that worked really well (it is the only thing I had ) is liquid bandage... I think it is a lot like clear finger nail polish? But it took the itching away for almost 24hrs, then I would peel it off, wash it and put another coat on. Mine was gone in a week but wasn't as bad, good luck... it is no fun.

I think it looks like poison ivy, but I'd still have it checked out to be sure.
If it is poison ivy, make sure you wash any garment that may have come in contact with the plant itself in hot water with soap. The plant's oils can stick on clothing (and shoes!) and give you more blisters if it touches your skin again.

Thanks mamas. I think it is too. I won't be taking her in because we don't see doctors for this type of thing but I appreciate the advice. I've already washed everything but I will be washing her sheets again since it's seems to have broken open.

Re: Is this poison ivy?

I think "they" are saying now that you can only contract/spread it by the plant oils, the rash itself isn't contagious, even when the blisters break and ooze. So once you wash (in the hottest water that you can) and remove the oils that it won't spread... but that doesn't mean more rash won't appear. You can still get more blisters for several days, where you were maybe exposed to less oil or exposed to the oil later.

Yes it is. And I am itching now. Hope it clears up soon. For me, keeping cool helped immensely!

Re: Is this poison ivy?

No I dont think it is that..it looks like poison parsnip..u mainly get it if you rub the plant when u are wet.

My friend and I had this same rash..we went swimming and must have walked past the plant (at that time not knowing what it looked like)...it did scar...but the scars faded as years went by...

I read this morning and found this info and that was part of my confusion. Makes sense what you are saying about the oil though. Thank you.
