Moving to Chesapeake, VA (Greenbrier area)

Is anyone from around there? I see (from previous threads) that Diaper Junction is in Virginia Beach. Fun! I'm also going to be looking for a family doctor/ped that won't give us issues with non-vaxing. Any leads there?

I live 2 min from greenbrier! I vax, so can't help you there, but hi anyway!

We live in Virginia Beach and DH works in Chesapeake. There was a thread on here recently about non vax friendly doctors and there was one in Virginia Beach. If you google calling all non vaxers (I think that's what the thread title was) it will bring it up and they had a website with a list of doctors.

Do you mind posting a link? I googled and got a thread from 2006. DS is getting close to his next WBC and I've been putting off making the appointment. We delay vax so until the 12 month appointment DS was never really behind. The nurse I was made to talk to at the Navy hospital was terrible and actually has me worried about going back there at all. She wanted to give him the one 9 month he missed, all of the 12 month, and the 18 month shots. I couldn't be trusted to bring him back in for the 18 month I suppose. When I asked if I could go somewhere else for them she said there is somewhere in Norfolk where they allow parents to be superstitious and delay or not vax, they just make you take a class then sign a waiver.

BTW kids never get fussy or get a fever after having any shots. The doctors who give Tylenol just before to help reduce symptoms are just crazy. There is nothing in any shot that could cause an allergic reaction. And shots are like an ice cream sundae... Those were just a few of the things she lectured me on.

For the shots I don't want him to have at all I really, truly, do have religious reasons for it. I'm scared to bring it up with the doctor though and not sure what forms I need for signing.

There is so much to do around here! We are getting membership at the Zoo, Children's Museum, and Busch Gardens. There are so many options here it just blows my small town girl mind away.

I couldn't find it either, Karen. Where are you living? I can't believe that nurse! I would never go back there if I could possibly help it. We're from a small town too, but have lived some in some small cities as well. My LO (who just turned a year) hasn't been to a doctor since she was 2 1/2 months, with all the moving we've been doing. We were pretty lucky with our pediatrician in Iowa, and though we don't go to the doctor very often, we definitely need to find one too at some point!

We live in the Churchland area of Portsmouth. It's an really nice area for the city it's officially in. Finding it was a miracle, DH didn't want to deal with tunnel traffic during his commute so Chesapeake wasn't an option.

We just moved to the area too (as you know from my thread, Sara ), and we love it here! We live in Portsmouth too, Karen, in Port Norfolk. It's so awesome!! I haven't really found any moms groups or anything in our area though--everything seems to be in Virginia Beach and it seems like such a far drive. I haven't even really started looking for doctors yet, but we vax so it's not that big of a deal. Maybe we'll run into each other soon, Sara!
