My 1 YO peed on the potty today?
We're not ECing, but she wakes up dry a lot in the morning, and woke up dry from a nap (she hadn't wet in 4 hours) so I thought "eh, what the heck" and took her to the toilet. I told her to tinkle and made the pssssssss sound... and she went.
It was amazing!I'm considering ECing with her if she wants to. She's kind of busy, I don't know if she'll like it but it would be cool if she potty trained quickly!

Re: My 1 YO peed on the potty today?
That is awesome! My almost 18mo is very verbal and has been talking about the potty alot since his 3yo brother is PLing. He's even started talking about the potty when I change his diapers. He hasn't gone in yet, but he totally gets the idea. He loves to sit on his little IKEA potty before we get in the shower and tells me he's going "pee pee" (he's not lol)
A friend of mine has a little girl that just turned 1 and they started EC with her around 9 months. She's now in trainers full time at home and they literally only have to need a dozen actual cloth diapers for an entire week for going out/night. I've been strongly considering that maybe I could convince ds3 to PL right along side ds2 if we went about it EC style

Re: My 1 YO peed on the potty today?
That's great! This is what my DD did around the same age only she squatted in the tub. I recently switched to cloth diapers after reading The Diaper Free Baby and started EC. We try probably 3 or 4 times a day most days. Some days she is not interested at all. Some days she screams every time I change her diaper and then I put a sposey back on and let her go. She's better with it about every other day.
She won't sit on the Bjorn long so I either put her in the tub or sit on the toilet and set her in front of me. |

This is how I started with my dd too.
And then we progressed together as I came to understand her elimination schedule.

Re: My 1 YO peed on the potty today?
Yep, sounds like you're doing well
It's all about paying attention to communication/signals and staying relaxed about it. You two will find a rhythm that works for you. I did EC only part-time with my DS from birth through now, but we're about to kick things up a notch when we move out of disposable diapers for good.I'm excited for you that you and she are giving this a try. I'm sure you'll both be very happy with your successful pottying, and your improved connection/communication when you keep it up! |
