I've used the softbums both echos and omnis for trifolding, and love them both. Omnis have a wider crotch for it but, echos work fine too.

Re: Covers for trifolding ..

Best Bottom is actually a hybrid cover, but they work great w/ prefolds and are super trim. They were too tight on DS's uber-chunky thighs, but I bet they would be a dream for skinny legs, with those double gussets.

Re: Covers for trifolding ..

I padfold flats and tri-fold infant pre-folds in my GroVia covers for my 24 lb 2yr old who is a skinnie minnie all the time, I sometimes add a doubler (either a GroBaby booster or preemie pre-fold) but honestly, the infant prefold is a good trim fit and I find plenty absorbent enough for her when tri-folded. I change at least every 2 hours though...

I never got a good fit with flips for her either - not enough meat on her bones

A good friend tri-folds and uses her FuzziBunz as covers, but I never got a good fit with FB on my skinny girl either...

If I weren't determined to never buy her another diaper item, I would do a few Fluffy's covers for her- but she will probably potty train in August or September, so it's not worth it to me to invest in anything new for her...

I have a skinny too. Flips were ok. Kawaii pockets I never could get to fit, not sure if the covers are similar. What I do like for her are Grovia aplix shells and weehuggers. Both are quite trim and I get a nice fit with padfolded flats, and sometimes the occasional prefold.
