Re: Happy 1st Birthday JuneBugs!!

Mer - Are you not wanting to tandem nurse Henna and baby? If you're willing/wanting, I wouldn't worry about weaning her. If you're not wanting to (which I totally understand, it's the choice I made with Zech and Isaac myself) I would still hold off until closer to baby's edd. I nursed Zech until he was 16mos, gave myself a 3mos break between that and baby's birth.
With him, actually with Isaac too, we did the same thing we did with Ruthie. When we decided to wean (which was at a point when they were only nursing first in the AM, before nap, and before bed) we gave them a sippy cup with warm milk in it then read stories and had lots of cuddle time while they drank it. I think we did one nursing session at a time, started with the nap, then morning, then bedtime. But not terribly long and drawn out process.

Shannon -

AFM: No 3rd nipples here, lol. I've got Levi's cake cut out and some parts shaved down, some built up. I need to throw a layer of icing on it tomorrow and start working with the fondant to get the right colors. I think it's going to work out. If not, I've got lots of icing in the house so I'll just use that. I hope the fondant works though.

Tomorrow morning I have to get ready to take Isaac to his nursery school year-end party. We had graduation and a BBQ a couple weeks ago, but they always try to do a little something special at the very end. They were hoping to do a swimming party but there's still so much flooding around here. So we're going bowling instead, and if it's nice (not supposed to be though) we'll go to a park afterwards. Isaac is excited and I know Levi will have fun, he loves being with all the kids.

I think DH is taking a sick day tomorrow to deal with our van. It's really not running okay at all... just not good. He's hoping to call a guy and get it in to be repaired tomorrow.

Re: Happy 1st Birthday JuneBugs!!

So Cooper has to go to Early intervention because he isn't crawling/only uses his arms when pulling up, can't put himself in a sitting position from laying down and only has half of a tooth. His tooth erupted awhile back and is still only half way in. The ped said it looked abnormal to her so she wants to have bloodwork done to check for chromosomal abnormalities. He also has no words can say dadadad but I don't know if he associates it with daddy or is just babbaling. He doesn't babble too much either so she wants a hearing test.
He weighs 20.2 pounds and is 28 inches long! They tried to get blood but he was too dehydrated and she didn't want to stick him without knowing exactly where his vein was. So we will go back for that later. I am so sad and nervous!

Hard to believe a year ago today, just about now, I was laying in this same spot on my couch and noticing a few most definitely real contractions. Went to bed to get some sleep, waking at 1:30am with the first of many coming contractions.

Re: Happy 1st Birthday JuneBugs!!

Tamara -

Elena - Is the car all fixed? Ours is dead beyond repair, and shocker due to forclosure we can't get a loan to get a used car so I will be renting for awhile - thankfully renting in the UK is crazy cheap.

SO I only nursed Henna to sleep last night - but then when she woke up I would just pat her. I think I'm hating it so much because I think I'm dry - she seems to constantly WANT to nurse - but she is also constantly frustrated so I spend all night with a boob in her mouth getting bit and cried at and I already wanted to climb out of my skin. I tried giving her a bottle which she just held on to - until she found out it had milk in it...which wasn't until like 4 am, then she just wanted me to look at her why she drank that and went back to sleep - so at least I'm still useful hoping this means better nights for us - I haven't slept in ages.

Mer - I hope the weaning goes better for you and Henna. I remember that "crawling out of my skin" feeling nursing Zech while pregnant. Not fun.
Our van did get fixed. $600 later and DH said it drove home like the day we bought it... I haven't driven it myself yet, although I should probably go for groceries tomorrow. I'm interested to see how it feels/drives for me. I'm hoping this is all we need to do to have it keep running fine for us, even through the winter.

AFM: Happy 1st Birthday, to my wee Nudge.

Re: Happy 1st Birthday JuneBugs!!

Oh my. Is he ever so handsome, Elena I wanna see cake pics!

Glad your van is fixed. Ours just failed inspection and it will be around $1300 to fix it :/

AFK: growth spurt and toofs 9-12 are halfway in- the ones on the sides, his eye teeth aren't in yet . he is also talking like crazy "kailani can you hand me my keys?" to which he does and says, "here" and then the cadence of "your welcome" when you say thank you. he also has a one track mind, like when we left the park yesterday, he kept turning around to walk back even after I tried the millionth distraction and we had turned the corner so he couldnt see it. finally had to carry him into the house. Also he is testing out running which means he has busted his teeth thru his bottom lip 2 times in a day, stubbed his toe bloody, etc. I tried flip flops on him yesterday, per DH's insistence and he walked great with them. Took them off about 20 min later and he had blisters on his arches. No more shoes for now

AFM: survived the ILs visit although had to explain why we don't pronounce his name the way they want us to. I think it bothered his sis the most bc they asked me when Hana wasn't there and then later, when I wasn't around, she had her daughter ask Hana again why. I think she thought I was lying when I said it was his choice. she was all like, "well you know when you take him to hawaii they are going to pronounce it like this -----" and hana said, "Well I will correct them EVERY time". like wtf did she expect us to say, "oh thanks for bringing it up when he is a YEAR old instead of before. Now we will just tell him his name is different?" She irks me anyway.
and my stepdad- oy. Hana told him he wasn't going to work JUST tues and wed so he could spend some of the week with his parents. my dad said ok. Then never called him thurs or fri. Hana called him, left msg, he never called. Sunday was the family party and I said something to him and he said, "I tried calling" (BS, we didn't get calls on EITHER phone) "and I never got a call from him" not true. also, "I don't know how to get my messages" bad idea if that is your business cell! and he didn't see missed call? THEN hana calls him Monday and he says he has 2 dr appts so no work. he calls hana tues and says he has a lot of stuff to do around the house so no work. the point is work is getting slow anyway, so why work last wk alone (he is not supposed to due to heart issues) ESP when it was over 100 degrees and this week, screw around and it's only 78 degrees? Hana is working today, but that is a LOT of missed work (he also blew him off one day 2 wks ago bc he decided last minute to drive to OH for a 50yr college reunion). Idk what we are going to do. we were doing a bit better than ok in April and May bc it was a lot of work. i can't get a job that would pay enough to even cover daycare (not that i want to) plus the kids are off for the summer and i am still schooling DS4....can't do home daycare since this place is falling apart. <sigh>

Re: Happy 1st Birthday JuneBugs!!

Elena: I wanna see cake pics too! I love Isaacs cake, you are so creative! And the treasure hunt....how do you come up with ideas like that? I love that one pic at his graduation where he was looking up too, that is adorable!

Jul: Family can be a PITA! Luckily, most of mine are tolerable. Our parents live very close and we see them often so I am happy they are ok. But I have some extended family we only see once in a while that can be difficult. Like DH's grandmother....she is always trying to tell me what Addi needs. "She's hungry because you won't let her eat" when she was 5 or so months old and EBF. "She's cold! I'll get her a blanket" and insists that I used said blanket in 80 degree weather at the family reunion where everyone else is wearing shorts! Bugs me! And everytime Addi would fuss (mainly from so many people and so many hands trying to touch her) it was always her teeth. Just because a baby who doesn't have all her teeth yet cries, doesn't mean she is teething!

AFMAddi fell She was in a wagon outside (like a little garden wagon). I put a blanket on the bottom of it and toys inside. It has walls and she can't stand so I thought it would be ok. We were right there, working on the garden, no more than 5 feet away from her. She flipped out of it and landed on the ground. Her fingers were caught in the mesh siding though. I ran and lifted her body up so her fingers would come loose. She screamed and screamed. I felt so bad She is fine now except 2 fingers are bruised a little. I feel like bad mommy. Since she crawls all over now, what am I supposed to do with her? I can't wear her anymore, the carrier won't buckle anymore and when DH wears her she starts arching and fighting after a few minutes. I think it's that he doesn't have big squishy, soft pillows on his chest lol.
