I just fill to the top line in the drawer. I hear it's about a 1/2 cup too.

I only started using it about a month ago but I add 1/8cup during the rinse, wash as usual on hot after and then add one extra hot cycle. My diapers are so much softer and once wet there is absoultely NO smell at all.
TL- wash about 15 diapers every other day.
