Exclamation How the heck do I get a prefold on my newborn??

I have a 5 day old baby girl. She weighs 7lbs 14oz. I have Thirsties x-small covers & newborn prefolds. The diapers just look HUGE on her! Any suggestions on how to put a cloth diaper on her??

Can you start cloth diapering this early?

Absolutely you can. We did it with2 boys. It takes some getting used to because they hate being exposed but you can do it moma. Try folding the excess material in the front down. The snappi should hold it snaug. HTH! We're here for ya!!

You can def CD a newborn and 7lbs 14oz is perfect! You can cd newborns who weigh much less As for the prefolds I trifold mine and throw the cover over. Done, Simple and easy GMD orange edge and Osocozy "better fit" infant (I had both and they are the same exact size inch for inch in all dimensions!) They fit perfect in XS covers No folding over or extra cloth sticking out. I suggest using one of the those prefolds for better fit. You can u-tube trifolding a cloth dipe and see it it's easy but might be confusing to explain and you read kwim. Prefolds are bulky that's the way it is so if you want a trimmer fit BG XS AIO is the way to go I used both prefolds and BG AIOS as well as FB XS and thirsties AIO XS(bulky tho) and thirsties covers for prefolds like you have are fabulous. Fit my LO perfectly.

I really like smaller flats on a nb or small baby rather than pfs. The preemie size fits well but lacks absorbency and the nb/infant size is to bulky. There are a couple brands of flats that are smaller the Osocozy brand is one of them. Maybe give these a try.

I am using Cotton Babies infant size Indian PFs on my newbie. She is big (probably 11+ lbs. now at 3 1/2 weeks) but they are really snug on her so I bet they would fit really well at the size your baby is. What brand are your PFs?

Here is my little one. These are Thirsties Duos on the smallest setting. All my xsmalls are in the wash but they fit basically the same. He is about 7 lbs 4 oz ish now...

when he was smaller, I folded the rise down like this lady shows at the beginning

It does look big at first but you get used to it.
