Re: Charity Sewing Not Allowed

If you weren't asking anyone to donate, I don't get the problem.

I don't particularly see a problem with a bunch of women doing a SAL. Some of you will donate to a charity. Some can keep theirs. Some can sell them on their WAHM sure. I guess if it's just a SAL, it's different. Maybe you can put that as an option too? Hope it gets figured out.

The difference in your thread and the mama taking the covers was that the mama taking the covers was trying to buy covers for her cause.

It is possible that you may be able to do this same thing, offer to buy the pads and then link to what they are for. Some may sell cheaply, others will probably donate.

I'll report this post so we can check on how to proceed with this.
I'm a little confused. No one was selling pads, and I do believe it had been decided that we were simply doing a SAL. No one was collecting pads, we were all sending them individually to DFG. What exactly is against DS rules there?

This is being discussed amongst the team, charities in particular and the asking of donations is what's not allowed, so we are talking about this, we will update when we can.

Totally off topic, but I can't believe you're already 7 weeks!!! Yay!

I am wondering the same. There really seems to be no issue at this point. Any former issues have been fixed and a disclaimer was put in place in the original thread so everything stayed within the rules. Makes zero sense!

Thank you for responding as well as your time and I look forward to hearing a response and hope this has a happy ending.

ditto
- this news is disheartening. I am sure the participants of said thread will still continue with their individual projects.

I have been thinking why there is no thread sticky in Craft Chat for a list of organizations that accept crafted donations (diapers, mama cloth, blankets, clothing.) I think MANY wonderful DS members would be happy to know about such opportunities to lend their talents.

Will a MOD please link to your specific rules about this topic. TIA!

Re: Charity Sewing Not Allowed

I was searching for our thread all morning!

Personally I am really frustrated by the fact that our thread was removed. No one was asked for anything other than to participate IF THEY CHOSE in a sew-a-long.

Regardless of whether our thread is allowed to continue, this cause has really touched me and we can start a facebook group or something to show our pics.

Re: Charity Sewing Not Allowed

Are we allowed to start a new thread in the Craft Show N Tell area to show off the pads we are all individually donating and have discussions about them there?
