Upcycled T-Shirt Fitted Tutorial...No Sewing Required!!! (Pic Heavy)

Upcycled t-shirt fitteds are awesome cause they are super cheap or even free if you have some extra t-shirts laying around. I decided to make this tutorial since I've had a few people ask me how I fold them. I use size XL t-shirts and they seem to work the best for my son who is 18 months and 24 lbs. There is plenty of room to adjust the rise to make them larger, but if you have a smaller baby you may want to use a size L t-shirt. So here we go...

First thing to do is lay the t-shirt out as flat and smooth as possible.

Then fold one side of the shirt over like this...

Then fold that fold back on itself like this so that the edge of the fold meets the middle of the shirt...

Then do the same with the other side of the shirt so that the two folds meet in the middle of the shirt like this...

Then fold down the top so that the sleeve are folded in half. Those will be the tabs you will snappi later...

Then fold the bottom up till it meets the top...this is where you would adjust the rise if you need it to be longer.

Now it's time to put on the diaper! Position it under your baby...

Before you pull the front up between the legs, fold in the sided of the crotch area like this to make it narrower...

Pull the front up between the legs...

Then fold the tabs over the front...

And then snappi and you're done!

Here's a view from the side.

And here it is under an Econobum cover...very trim!

Thanks so much! I'm sure they would, but for a baby that small I would use a smaller size t-shirt. The t-shirts I'm using I got from a Thrift store for $0.69 lol. Maybe you could get a size S and a size M and try them out to see what size works best for a newborn :-)

Thanks ladies! I will say this though...don't forget to strip the t-shirts before using them as diapers since they probably have plenty of detergent/fabric softener buildup on them!
