Mamas/papas who cosleep...

Do you ever worry about your little on falling/rolling out of bed? DD is about 6 months and we've been using a SnuggleNest (or close and secure infant sleeper) but now that she can shift around I don't think it's as comfortable for her. Hubby likes it because it seems to prevent her from rolling out of bed when he gets up to leave for work. I would rather just have her snuggled close. How did your experience with cosleeping change when your little one started to roll around?

I cosleeping and have no intention of stopping if I can put my mind at ease that she won't roll out of the bed...

dd usually sleeps in the middle so no worry of rolling out of bed.

when she does sleep on the outter side she sleeps in the cup of my arm (my arm is around her)

Mine all slept in the cup of my arm on the outside. Dh didn't want them in the middle, he's a heavy sleeper and too nervous of smushing them. Buuuut....all 3 of mine have fallen off at some point, so a lot of good that did.

We have our mattress on the floor, so that if they roll off, it won't hurt...BUT it wasn't always that way and I can't recall any of them falling off while asleep.

We always just have the baby between us. If one of us gets up early, we make sure the other knows, and then put a pillow along the edge. If DS is rolling around enough in bed to roll off the bed, I'd be awake enough to prevent it. He tends to like to lay on me, or cuddle up close so if he is getting restless there's no way I'd be able to sleep through it.

Re: Mamas/papas who cosleep...

look up how to sidecar cribs, there is a great page on freewebs about sidecar crib. I don't have enough post as a member to put link up. Make sure you find the one with pictures of crib being secured to adult bed so there will be no dangerous gaps between beds for baby to get stuck in

Same here, except my newb! I'm sure he'll be doing the same in a few months!

DS was a cuddler. He slept in his crib most of the night after nursing to sleep, then would wake up around 4 or so and only go back to sleep in bed with me, using my arm as a pillow. If he rolled, it was only ever into me! But it still always put him in thee middle of the bed, even if the outside resident was just the dog...

Re: Mamas/papas who cosleep...

I found my 16 month old on the ground in the middle of the night a few days ago! Seriously she didn't cry or anything, just laying on the floor snoring away.

Usually she sleeps in the middle (for this reason!) and when Daddy leaves for work, he puts his pillow across his side of the bed so she doesn't roll off his side.

GL!
