36 weeker questions, weight question and help with what to do in pool!

My little girl is 8 months old and 14 pounds 8 ounces. She was born at 36 weeks, 0 days and was 5 pounds 11 oz. no NICU stay, no issues, came home breastfeeding like a champ. We are so thankful for that. At 5 months she was 14 pounds 11 ounces and has stayed the same/lost 3 ounces in the last 3 months. Has anyone else experienced this with their preemie or 36 weeker?

Also, we live in the south and it's pool time! Taylor is too tiny for the floats we currently have. Does anyone have any recommendations for a pool float or pool solution for a wee one? I have a 3.5 year old too and I need to be able to get to both quickly!

Thanks!!!

Your dd's stats are very similar to my dd. She was a 36 weeker (no NICU stay), 6 lbs even. By 6 months she was 12 lbs, but only 14 lbs on her first birthday. She was a champion nurser and met all her developmental milestones (with the exception that she was pretty much EBF until around 14 months; she just wasn't interested in "food"). She is now an average sized 7 year old; still on the lighter side but 'normal'.

I was going to recommend a water sling, as well. We have a spring float (we got it at Wal-Mart) but my DD2 is 13 months & 14 pounds. Her adjusted age is 10 months, though.

I wouldn't worry too much about her weight. When she hits another growth spurt, she'll catch up.

My twins did not gain a lot from 4 months to 12 months, and then had a huge jump from 12-18, and then nothing again for the next 8 months (just grew in height).

I used a water sling with DS#1. He was born at 4lbs 7 oz, and weighed 16lbs at a year old. With DS#2, (36 weeker) I have a water wrap and a water sling. The wrap is definitely more comfortable. Ds#2 is 16 lbs at 4 months!

Re: 36 weeker questions, weight question and help with what to do in pool!

My dd was pretty close to yours. She was 36w5d though. Weighed 5lbs 10oz. Stayed one extra day at the hospital just because she was born in an ambulance in route to the hospital- delivery was fast and furious. She was kept just to make sure she didn't come up with an infection because of her delivery. Anyway, she always was and still is tiny. At 12 months she was 18lbs. She is lactose intolerant, so after her first birthday a switch to soy helped her gain 2lbs. 3 years later she weighs 28. She has never lost weight, but she does stay at one weight for a very long time- then she jumps. Nothing we tried to help her gain weight ever worked.

We had a baby float that cost around $25 at toys r us. It has a bottom kind of like an a jump a roo- 2 little leg holes. I think is suppose to be for babies 6 month and older. We didn't use it until DD was 1, but it could have been used earlier. Its small, baby just needs to be a supported sitter.
