Re: Cow's Milk Alternatives

My DS drink goat's milk. The girls hate it. They drink soy very occasionally, but mostly coconut, rice and hemp milk. We don't do almond milk since there are nut allergies in the family.

Our littlest and oldest love rice milk.

we have no sensitivities, but we switched to almond milk a few months ago, to get away from cow's milk.

We do almond, soy and coconut milk and I make sure all are organic especially the soy and almond. I do try to limit the soy but both me and my youngest who is lactose intolerant prefer the taste.

Re: Cow's Milk Alternatives

We use goats milk when DS isn't nursing. They sell it at walmart and we love it. He had whole milk a few times and it made him sick, which wasn't surprising since DD and I both have a milk intolerance.. he hasn't had one issue on the goats milk. We tried almond but the kids refused to drink it lol.

Re: Cow's Milk Alternatives

We mostly drink almond milk. I never realized it was thick? But we just drink the regular unsweetened versioin - maybe that's the difference? I also use Hemp and Coconut milk for cooking/smoothies, etc, but don't care for the taste of them personally. And I would never give my kids (or self) soy milk, unless I knew for certain that it was organic. Even then I'd be leary - we do some crazy stuff to our soy.

Re: Cow's Milk Alternatives

we are off diary here too. we rotate between almond milk and rice milk.

we started off on just almond milk, but because of the way that it's processed, there are minute bits of almond in the milk that act like an exfoliant on their little colons and I didn't imagine that could be good for them long term.

My boys don't miss the cows milk though. We use almond and rice mostly on cereal and IN foods and they drink water otherwise. I don't give it to them to drink straight.

We drink coconut milk. Super duper yummy. Their yogurt is awesome as well. Just bought the ice cream last night, haven't tried it yet, but I'm sure it's just as good.
