Good (not crazy expensive) rice cooker?

Hi mamas --

I am a terrible cook. Really, I am.

My husband is Puerto Rican and I'm trying to learn how to cook some good Puerto Rican food. Most of it I can handle, but my rice is *always* a trainwreck. I am thinking of buying a rice cooker so that maybe my rice will not always turn out like wallpaper paste. Do any of you ladies have a good rice cooker that you can recommend? Rice is a staple of Puerto Rican cooking, and I cannot get mine to come out right.

Thanks!

I have one from JC Penney. I don't remember the brand name. It's a digital one, but I think it was about $20. My husband eats Cajun, so EVERYTHING goes with rice....which was new to me! Haha

I think most rice cookers work very well, in my experience, cheap to expensive. I didn't want teflon/nonstick or aluminum, so I recently ordered a Miracle brand off of Amazon with a stainless steel bowl.

My DH is puerto rican also. I bought a rice cooker for like 15$ at Target. I love it. My DH's uncle said it was lazy rice, but I don't care. Its a lot healthier than "Moms". But I do wish I could make her beans though, because they are to die for

Great! Thanks for the replies, ladies!

If anyone needs a good way to prepare black beans, there's a great recipe right on the label of Goya's frijoles negros. Really yummy!
