soreness after weaning

how long are they usually sore after stopping nursing? its been a week now and they are super super sore and still huge! i'm not engorged but i can feel the milk is still hard in there..i dont remember this with the other girls, although i didnt nurse them this long (9m)..

Could you have a plugged duct? Was it a gradual wean? Mine was gradual with my first 2 and I barely had any soreness or engorgement. They were about 4.5 months each time.
